library of local performance indicators
Welcome to the library of local PIs

This is an electronic library providing a source of 'ready made' performance indicators that you can adopt on a voluntary basis. All the indicators included in the electronic library have detailed definitions to facilitate consistency in the calculation. This is to enable, where appropriate, comparison over time and with others.

The indicators are categorised by themes, services, and by known framework groupings. Where there are large numbers of PIs in any one category, further sub-categories enable you to focus your search on a specific area. Where appropriate, some of the indicators appear in more than one category.

The list of categories will be added to over time as new indicators are developed.

Step by step guidance is available to help you navigate your way through the library.

Adding your performance indicators to the Library
We welcome contributions from groups who have developed and are using other performance indicators. If you would like to contribute any new indicators, please drop us an e-mail at localpi-library@audit-commission.gov.uk.

For any indicators submitted for inclusion to the Library we ask that you follow our guidance on the format and development of performance indicators (Word, 50Kb) for the Library of Local PIs (link to document), to ensure that the indicators facilitate useful and consistent comparison.

Contributors will be clearly referenced on each individual PI so that any correspondence on improvements can be managed by the originators of the indicators.
