This guidance offers a set of
34 voluntary procurement performance indicators (PDF, 237Kb) from which authorities can choose those most relevant to them. These indicators will help authorities measure their progress against the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government and the developing agenda for modern procurement practice.
The indicators have been developed through the Library with the Society of Procurement Officers (SOPO) and a wide group of stakeholders in local government procurement. These stakeholders include local authorities, national organisations and government departments. The indicators are designed to help English local authorities with the implementation of the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government that was launched in October 2003. It is hoped that with suitable adjustment, the indicators will be useful to colleagues in other parts of the public sector.
This set of indicators is particularly useful for:
- heads of procurement
- heads of service
- finance directors
- heads of policy and performance
These indicators are also avaibable to download through the
library of local PIs
