other performance indicators

Local performance indicators are an important measure of local performance and the responsiveness of the authority in meeting local objectives. They enable authorities to reflect local priorities and tailor best value to suit local circumstances. They also provide managers with better information.

Local indicators are just one part of a wider set of performance indicators. Overall the whole should form a coherent set, with local indicators complementing the nationally defined performance indicators.

The Library of Local Performance Indicators project is jointly run by the Audit Commission and the Improvement and Development Agency
