Economic regeneration – details of the pilot that lead to the launch of the set of economic regeneration indicators in November 2005.

Procurement performance indicators now available
Further to the launch of the National Procurement Strategy for Local Government and the Gershon Efficiency Review report of October 2003 and July 2004 respectively, the IDeA and the Audit Commission have published a set of 34 voluntary procurement performance indicators. Authorities can choose the indicators most relevant to them, which were developed with a range of national organisations and local authorities, to help them measure their progress against the developing agenda for modern procurement practice.

This set of indicators will shortly be added to the Library database.

Local PIs being piloted
Data collection
The first data collection exercise for local PIs was launched in May 2003 to
  • test the level of participation by local authorities; and
  • to test a facility for web based data collection.
Eighty authorities, representing a good spread of types and geographical spread, voluntarily posted returns. Given the high levels of interest expressed by local authorities when the exercise was first mooted, the response rate was disappointing. However the facility for web based data collection, which has since been further developed and trialled for the collection of best value PIs for 2003/2004, has proved to be very successful.

No further data collection is planned at present, however it is likely that a future collection of voluntary data will occur. Details of this will be posted on this website when further details are available.
