The Home Office Community Cohesion Unit launched a set of Community Cohesion Performance Indicators for local authorities and their partners to use as appropriate to their needs in June 2003. A technical note has since been developed to further assist with the collection of these indicators. The indicators and the technical note are available here.

The Home Office is looking for feedback on the application of these indicators as part of its review of the current arrangements. This includes examples of surveys which have included community cohesion questions, adaptations of the existing indicator set and any new or bespoke indicators that have been used to baseline or measure community cohesion. Comments on the use of indicators for performance management or self-assessment purposes would also be welcomed.
